The Weather

The weather can be summed up in one word – sunny! The Costa de la Luz holds the sunshine record for Spain, and with over 3,200 hours of sun each year there won't be too many rainy days. And in any case we always try to arrange these rainy days for when you're back in the UK for a visit!

Winters are mild – you can sunbathe on Christmas day if the sun is shining, although the sea may be a touch chilly! Spring and autumn are perfect, and although the middle of summer can be pretty hot the gentle Atlantic breeze takes the edge of the extremes of temperatures found in other parts of Spain.

If you are into windsurfing or something similar, the southern end around Tarifa is ideal as there is often a wind (they wouldn't have built all those windmills on the Tarifa hills if there wasn't!) but as soon as you come 15 miles or so up the coast you will usually find that the wind dies to no more than a gentle breeze.
